Lethbridge Folk Club jams still going strong with new faces

I don’t usually write up jams, but The Lethbridge Folk Club’s long standing twice monthly jam jam is faltering from poor attendance, so I made a point of going to my first one in a few months.Leon Barr is a regular at the Lethbridge Folk Club open mics. L.A. BEat file photo

The Lethbridge Folk Club features open mics on the second and Fourth Friday of every month.

I was pleased to see some new faces including a couple members of the Park Wardens as well as folk club regulars Morris Soenen playing banjo and local bluesman Leon Barr who were all playing for an intimate audience at the back of MJs Cycle (1502 -2nd Avenue South) , Jan. 23.

Most of the performers were playing obscure Gordon Lightfoot covers, though a couple tried originals  including the fleet fingered Leon Barr.

Lethbridge Folk Club open mics begin at 8 p.m. on the second and fourth Fridays of the month.
