Zojo Black make triple guitar attack

As expected, popular local blues rock band  Zojo Black had a full house at the Slice, April 4.

I caught them in the middle of a rousing set of originals powered by the triple guitar attack of Steve Keenan and  Paul Kype and frontman Greg Gomola.

Keenan and Kype played some impressive guitar harmonies throughout backed by Tyson Maiko on bass and drummer Brad Valgardson.

Some of the highlights was an older song about Shaela Miller called “Modern Day Marilyn Monroe”  the title track of their new CD“ Imagine” one of the more reggae tracks from their new CD and their popular cover of  Deep Purple’s “ Hush.”Zojo Black’s Tyson Maiko, Steve Keenan and Paul Kype. photo by Richard Amery

It was all about covers after that as each guitarist took turns singing lead vocals.

Keenan sang a sweet version of Bob Segar’s “ Night Moves” and  Kype sang lead on a cover of the Black Keys’ “ Lonely Boy” and  showed off his guitar chops on a cover of Stevie Ray Vaughan’s “ Pride and Joy.”
