It was a “good night for singing” at the Slice, June 26 with a variety of southern Alberta bands including Rancho Deluxe, Queen of the Worms, Tin and the Toad, Chuck and  Dave McCann.Tyler Bird, Ryan Shearer and George Arsene playing with Rancho Deluxe. Photo by Richard Amery

I missed Dave McCann’s solo set, Chuck and Tin and the Toad but caught Queen of the Worms strong set of alt rock/ country which featured the talents of  Tyler Bird on guitar and vocals, Paul Holden on bass, drummer Clayton Smith and a guitarist I didn’t recognize.

Rancho Deluxe played a variety of  songs including Jerry Jeff Walker’s “Rock and Roll My Baby”  and the Marshall Tucker Band” “ Low Down Ways” and the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band’s “Cosmic Cowboy” plus roots classics like “Stagger Lee.”

It was a big party on stage as Rancho Deluxe brought Tin and the Toad drummer Ryan Shearer on stage to join steel guitarist Ryan Dyck, guitarist Tyler Bird, bassist Paul Holden and frontman George Arsene.
