There are several great shows happening this week.
Open mics are going to be a highlight this week beginning tonight with Halifax area rocking blues trio the Carson Downey Band  who are hosting the blues jam, March 9, as well as per a full show on March 10. They are not to be missed by anybody considering themselves fans of energetic blues rock and face melting guitar. Also tonight, the Lethbridge Writer’s Group has their second meeting at 7 p.m. at Humpty’s downtown.Stephen Fearing plays the Geomattic Attic this week. Photo Submitted

An outstanding show is at the Geomatic Attic the next day. Juno award winner and one third of Blackie and the Rodeo Kings, Stephen Fearing plays Geomatic Attic, March 10. Andy White is also on the bill. The show starts at 8 p.m. Also on Wednesday, Karen Romolliwa hosts Henotic’s open mic. Jazz/blues duo Twilight Hotel are also back in Lethbridge, March 11 to play the Slice. Their shows usually sell out.

Local hard rock band  the Living Luca  and Sevendaysin also have a gig at Henotic, March 11. It is a fund raiser for Jungle Fever, which will help send a group of University of Lethbridge students who are going to Malawi in May to teach the people about malaria and bring mosquito nets. The cover is seven dollars.

Rapper Kyprios is also back in Lethbridge for a March 13  show at the Blarney Stone, which is one of several big shows on March 13.
Local alternative country singer Shaela Miller’s CD release party at the Bill Kergan Centre is a sure highlight of the week. She will be premiering her hew CD ‘Love is Brave.’
For something which harmonizes, the Southern Accord Women’s Chorus have a  fun show at the College Drive Community Church, March 13. They will be performing a variety of  songs from classical to contemporary with Red Deer’s  Hearts of Harmony. That show begins at 7 p.m. Tickets cost $12.
On the other hand,  the rockers will be out at the Enmax Centre for Billy Talent, Alexisonfire and Against Me.
Another excellent rock show is Vancouver’s the Manvils who are back to tear apart the Slice, March 12.

Other open mics this week are at Beaches and the Good Earth Coffee House on Thursday and the Lethbridge Folk Club hosts their open mic on Friday in the Wolf’s Den.
