If you want to ring in 2017 with live music, there are plenty of New Year’s Eve options.
But first, laugh out 2016 on Dec. 28 with the last stand-up comedy open mic of the year at the Owl Acoustic Lounge.
If you want to get a head start on New Year’s Eve celebrations, there are several events happening, Dec. 30
The Herb Hicks Quartet will be playing jazz at the Mocha Cabana, Dec. 30 from 6-9 p.m.

 Get your rock on at the Owl Acoustic Lounge, Dec. 30 with local alternative rock bands Fox Eyes, JJ Thomas and the Supervoid. There is no cover for the show.

Edmonton based indie rock band Jesse and the Dandelions return to Lethbridge to play the Slice, Dec. 30 with local bands Ghost Women and The Silkstones. There is a $10 cover for that show.
 And get a preview of Casino Lethbridge’s New Year’s Eve to do with Mwansa Mwansa, who will be singing beautiful soul, R and B and pop music, Dec. 30
She will be back to ring in the new year on Dec. 31 at 9 p.m. after a feast of prime rib. Tickets for the Casino’s New Year’s Eve Show are $70 each

Several shows feature food. The Coast Hotel hosts the Chevelles and Cal Toth for their annual big gala show at the Coast. Tickets are $75 which includes a five course steak and lobster meal.
 If your tastes are more Italian, the Italian Canadian Club serves up chicken parmesan and the music of local rock band the Bamboo Guppies. Dinner is at 8 p.m. followed by the music.
And Dory and the Weathermen play the Lethbridge Legion. There will be food, party favours and champagne. Tickets are $50

Exhibition Park will be hopping New Year’s Eve. Rockfest features local rock band Fast Times and classic rock icons Trooper. Tickets are $69. There will be a midnight buffet, champagne, party favours and a free shuttle service (for a donation to the Lethbridge Humane Society) for those celebrating a little too much.

 And also at Exhibition Park, dust off your dancing shoes get jazzed with Ellen Doty who will be playing the Heritage Hall for Swing Bridge Lethbridge. There will be a candy buffet, midnight lunch, champagne and a beginners swing dance lesson at 8 p.m. Tickets are $50.
Honker’s Pub features the music of Good Time Charlie. The evening begins at 6 p.m. with cocktails and a three course pork loin dinner and party favours. Tickets are $45.

The Slice features a rootsy new years with Burning Bridge and Petunia and the Vipers, who always entertain. Tickets are $35.
 For the New Year’s Eve partier on a budget, the Owl Acoustic Lounge features a great blues show with Papa King and special guest Darryl Düus. Admission is by donation as usual at the Owl.
Beaches Pub brings back Calgary born, Lethbridge based pop/ rock band the Irregular Orchestra for New Year‘s Eve.
There is no cover for that show.

Local classic rock band Whose Yer Daddy return to the Ten Ten Pub for New Year’s Eve. There is a $15 cover for the show. Across the street at Coyote Joes, get your ’90s fix with Uncovered who will be playing all night. There is a five dollar cover for that show.
And get a little weird for New Year’s Eve at Attainable Records, where the Terrific  Kids Collective present  Medicine Hat musician, Curtis Windover and the Whatever, Edmonton’s l.n baba and local alternative rock band J Blissettt. There is a  $10 cover for the show.
 And just out of town at the Coaldale Inn, Paul and Jenn Kype will be holding court, playing folk and blues music. There is a $10 cover for that show.
