With the weather warming up a little, people finally emerged from their houses to take in some live music on the weekend.

 The Lethbridge Folk Club had another successful folk/ country/ roots show at the Lethbridge College Cave, Jan.14 with roots / country musician Tim Hus.

 I only caught the end of it, but arrived in time to catch the end of the popular Calgary based troubadour‘s set, which he tailored to Southern Alberta as expected.

Folks enjoyed a set chock full of songs about coal mining, bootlegging and  farming. Huss was an affable host, hobbling around the stage in his leg cast though he spent most of the set seated.

He cracked jokes and stories to entertain the crowd of approximately 100 people in between songs, which were reminiscent of his mentor Stompin’ Tom Connors.

Upright bassist Riley (Tubbs) and pedal steel /lead guitarist Jeff Bradshaw supplied the background so some quick picking of Hus’s own. Hus talked about breaking his foot while helping Tubbs put on a new roof and promised he’d be back standing for his next Lethbridge visit.

He received a lot of enthusiastic applause and returned for encores of “ Bucking Horse Cowboy” and “ Saturday Night In Alberta.”
