Alberta songwriters share songs

Songwriters in the round are a great way to not only see several different musicians at once, but also getting to see creativity in action as they collaborate together. Kimberley MacGregor, Ryan Phillips, Megan Brown, Steve Foord playing together. Photo by Richard Amery

So Edmonton’s Kimberley MacGregor, and Elliott Thomas plus Ryan Phillips and Dylan Jerome Wagner of the Silkstones plus Burning Bridge (Aka Steve Foord and Megan Brown) entertained a good sized crowd at the Owl Acoustic Lounge, Jan. 21 .

They each took turns  singing their own songs, sometimes stepping in to add extra instrumentation to the others’ songs.

MacGregor is always enjoyable, singing  with her big, booming, soulful voice. So she sang a couple of songs from her “ I Am My One” Cd as well as some new songs, while Thomas added side guitar on his Weissenborn guitar he played on his lap.

Phillips and Jerome Wagner played stripped down Silkstones songs, which sounded like a bare bones Radiohead.

Burning Bridge, played original songs with Foord singing most of the vocals while Brown added haunting harmonies and fiddle to their songs and several of the other performers’ songs. She also played guitar while singing one of her own.
