Lots of rock, laughs and rap this week

 Things are slow during the week, however, if you like rap music, Vancouver based rapper Madchild returns to Lethbridge to perform at Studio with Dow Jones, Joseph Rose, J Reds, Feb. 15. Tickets are $15 for early birds, $20 hard copy and $50 for the meet and greet and admission. Local rappers Yahtzen and Chronicphonics, Ella Favella  and Trey Mark are also on the bill.


Get your rock on as local alternative rock band Bummer Club kick off their tour at the Slice, Feb. 16 with Saskatoon noise rock/psych rock duo the Faps, Swim, Wint and Bubble Wrap. The show begins at 9 p.m. There is a $10 cover.
As usual, most of the live music happens on the weekend.


The sixth annual Old Favourites fundraiser for the Nord Bridge Senior’s Centre is happening Feb. 17 and 18 at the Yates Theatre.
Some of your old favourites and familiar faces from New West Theatre including Jeff Carlson, Scott Carpenter, Jordana Kohn, Arlene Bedster, Andre Royer, Kelly Roberts and Erica Hunt plus Greg Paskuski will be performing a music comedy revue of hits from the 1950s, ’60s and ’70s and a load of laughter.
 The shows are Friday at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday at 1:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.. Tickets cost $33 regular and a 10 per cent discount if purchased in groups of 10 or more.


Undefined, aka The Mark Hall band wearing their rock and roll hats,  play Coyote Joes on Feb. 17.
Local ’90s rock band Uncovered return to Casino Lethbridge, Feb. 17 and 18.


 Saturday will be a pretty cool night as comedian Tom Green brings his snow jam tour to Studio. He will be performing  a show full of hip hop music, stand up comedy and memories from  his past 30 years in the entertainment business. Tickets are $30 in advance. Doors open at 8 p.m.

The Slice features  an excellent progressive rock show on Feb. 18 featuring Regina trio Black Thunder with local alternative rock trio the Supervoid.
 The Owl Acoustic Lounge has a busy Feb. 18.

 Family jams return to The Owl in the afternoon, and northern Ontario roots/rock/ soul/ blues musician Al Lukas returns to the stage in the evening.
 Across town, Feb. 18, The Lethbridge Kinsmen Club celebrate Mardi Gras at the German Canadian Club with  Cajun food, a silent auction and live music.
All proceeds from tickets, which cost $75 each, $500 for a table of eight and $800 for a VIP table of eight, go to Ready, Set Go. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.

The Lethbridge Silver and Gold Bands also have a show on Feb. 18. So Swing into  the night at the College Drive Community Church with  A Night of Big Band Music, beginning at 7:30 p.m.. Some of the highlights include “At A Dixieland Jazz Funeral”; “Mambo from West Side Story”; a medley of the Gershwin classics “An American In Paris,” “Cuban Overture and “Rhapsody in Blue;” Duke  Ellington’s most familiar songs Take The “A” Train, “Don’t Get Around Much Anymore,” “ Mood Indigo” and “It Don’t Mean A Thing.” Tickets are $15 with children and under getting in for free.


The weekend fun doesn’t stop there. Classic rockers Honeymoon Suite return to Average Joes, Feb. 19 with local rock band Suzie and the Homewreckers. Honeymoon Suite are sure to play their big hits like “ Wave Babies, “ New Girl Now,” “Burning in Love” and “Lethal Weapon.”
 The show begins at 8 p.m.
 Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 on the day of the show.
If you aren’t burned out from all of that, get in the mood for the blues with Elkford based trio The Burn Ins who return to the Owl Acoustic Lounge to host their Monday open mic, Feb. 20.
The Owl Acoustic Lounge has a busy week as they also bring back Moose Jaw based singer songwriter Megan Nash, Tuesday, Feb. 21. There is no cover for either of those shows.
