“ I remember when I was recording with (bluesman)  Jon Dickerson at 315 Beale Street in Memphis. He asked me if I had seen the Mississippi River. I told him I had driven by it. He told me togo back and stand on the banks and listen to her. So I did. and came back and he saw it in my  eyes. He said you listened to her didn’t you? I said not only that it opened my eyes,” Brooks related.
