Mormon Girls end night for Brodie Moniker's Lethbridge stop

Due to a slow week and being on stage in Hatrix Theatre’s production of 12 Angry Jurors, I missed most of the week’s shows, which began early, but I did catch some excellent local acts.
Everything was happening on Wednesday night, Nov. The Mormon Girls at the Slice, Nov. 22. Photo by Richard Amery15.

I was really looking forward to seeing Moose Jaw based musicians Brodie Moniker’s (Fancy Diamonds and Pandacorn)  new solo band, but missed him. Local alternative rock trio the Mormon Girls had just begun their set. Guitarist/ vocalist Mickey Hayward, drummer Jon Vornbrock and bassist Tyson Wiebe played a strong set of ’90s style energetic alternative rock.

They ended their set with Hayward thrashing around, twiddling effects pedal knobs and  breaking a string.

But they were called back for an encore of an energetic Beastie Boys rap with Wiebe playing some funky bass and Tony Rosaine joining them on stage to rap.
