This is the first week of several bigger shows in Lethbridge.
The Enmax opens February on a rocking note as Red Lion, Pennsylvania rockers Halestorm visit the Enmax Centre with Iowa rockers Stone Sour and the Dead Deads.
The show begins at 7 p.m. Tickets are $58 and $68.
And, as much as I hate choosing favourites on the thriving local scene, one of my favourite roots rockers Dave McCann returns to the Slice, Feb. 2.
The other big show is a country show, which takes place at Average Joes, Feb. 3.
Up and coming country /soul singer JoJo Mason opens for Meghan Patrick, who is known for her hit “Bow Chicka Wow Wow” and who is touring in support of a new album “Country Music Made Me Do it” and the James Barker band who are starting to make an impression on the country charts. The show begins at 8 p.m. Tickets are $31 in advance and $36 at the door.
On Feb. 2 the Owl Acoustic Lounge brings back Calgary folk/ pop band Ghost Factory and Sean hamilton, who plays in several Calgary bands including Miesha in the Spanks and Julius Sumner Miller.
For a little bit rock and roll, Randall Arsenault plays the Owl Acoustic Lounge, Feb. 3 as he takes a step away from Dr. Zoo, which blends Celtic music with reggae and world music, to explore his more straight forward roots rocking side.
There is comedy this week too. The Owl Acoustic lounge hosts their monthly stand up comedy open mic, Jan. 31.
Tickets are $15 for the show, which starts at 8:30 p.m.
Streatside brings back first Saturday jazz as well with James Oldenburg and Paul Holden performing from 5:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m.
Another option is to dance the night away at Studio while telling cancer to take a hike at the annual Fuck Cancer benefit concert. You need a T shirt (OVARIAN = Teal
PANCREATIC= Purple; LYMPHOMA = Lime; LEUKEMIA = Orange; BREAST = Pink) and your ticket to get in. Tickets and shirts are $20.

The Lethbridge Symphony Orchestra returns to open t February with the Sounds of Vienna: City of Dreams, Feb. 2 and 3 at the Southminster United Church. The concert features an array of symphonic and operatic works from Austria’s capital. University of Lethbridge Opera Society students under the direction of Dr. Blaine Hendsbee.will be joining the Lethbridge Symphony. There will also be selections from Johann Strauss’s Die Fledermaus and Franz Lehar’s Merry Widow.The concerts begin at 7:30 p.m. Tickets range from $25-$75.
Casino Lethbridge features Ryerson Road this weekend, Feb. 2 and 3 who have reunited since playing the El Rancho back in the day.
They play a little bit of everything. There is no cover for the shows, which begin at 8 p.m.
