P.E.I./ Austin Texas songwriter Whitney Rose played an outstanding show of country music for an attentive Whitney Rose playing the Geomatic Attic, Feb. 16. photo by Richard Ameryaudience at the Geomatic Attic, Feb. 16.

It wasn’t sold out, but their first ever show in Lethbridge enraptured a crowd of approximately 80 people who were really there for the music.

Rose, dressed in tight jeans and a bright red cowboy boots topped by a white  cowboy hat, had a solid band backing her as she strummed guitar and sang wistful country music in her sultry, twang tinged voice which reminded me a lot of Margo price and a little of Dolly Parton and Emmy Lou Harris in places.

She even wound up the first set with Rodney Crowell’/ Emmy Lou Harris’s “Two More Bottles of Wine.

The rest of the set featured all of her debut CD and a couple from her most recent CD “Rule 62,” including “Arizona” and “ You Don’t Scare me” though she must have been saving the new single “Can’t Stop Shaking,” for the second set.

She wound down the first set with  the quirky highlight “ The Devil Borrowed My Boots last night.” from her CD “ Heartbreaker of the Year.”
