A bunch of country music this week

 Right out of the gate, on March 6, Southern California roots/ folk musician the White Buffalo visits the Geomatic Attic, Tuesday, March 6.
The White Buffalo aka songwriter Jake Smith is touring in support of his new album “Darkest Darks, “Lightest Lights.”
 He has also had songs appear in television shows “the Sons of Anarchy” and “This is Us.” Matthew Barber is also on the bill.


The next night,Wednesday, March 7, the Enmax Centre hosts California country star Dwight Yoakam, known for numerous hits like “Guitars and Cadillacs,” “Borrowed Love” and “ You’re the One.” Special guest Brandy Clark is also on the bill, which begins at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $63.95,$83.95, $115.45.
That same night, la Cité des Prairies presents Quebec folk traditional duo Les Tireux d’Roches and Coup Faux Monnayeurs .
There is no cover for the show, which begins at 6:45 p.m.


The Owl Acoustic Lounge hosts the first jazz jam of the month, Wednesday, March 7 as well with hosts HBO3 and Josh Davies.

 Winnipeg country musician Sean Burns returns to the Slice in support of his new CD ““Lost Country: Music For Taverns, Bars, and Honky Tonks.” He will be bringing his crack band of drummer Joanna Miller, bassist Bernie Thiessen and guitarist Grant Siemens, who plays with Corb Lund. Local steel guitar player Ryan “Skinny” Dyck will be adding steel guitar to the show.

 


The Wine Soaked Preachers join them on the Slice stage, March 9. There is a $10 cover for the show.
 If you missed local country band the Mark Hall band at the Slice last week, they play Casino Lethbridge, March 9 and 10.


And, B.C. bluegrass/folk band Tiger Moon return to Lethbridge to play a special early show at the Owl Acoustic Lounge, March 9 at 7 p.m. they are supporting their new Cd “ Cariboo and Whiskey.
 If you want to play, the Lethbridge Folk club holds their regular open mic at Casa, at 7 p.m., Friday, March 9.


For more alternative folk minded music fans, The Ashley Hundred return to the Slice , March 10 with Crooked Spies and the Utilities.


 Over at the Owl Acoustic Lounge, March 10, J Blissette release their new Cd  “ Until I Go Blind.”
 They will be joined by WITS, one man garage rock band Molan and Calgary feminist  lo fi band Slut Prophet. Admission is by donation.


 And the monthly ukulele jam is Sunday afternoon from 203 p.m. at Casa, March 11.
