September has flown by. This week, a little bit of England comes to Lethbridge. Scottish singer/songwriter Simon Kempston visits the Slice on Saturday, Sept. 29 with  Tyson Ray Borsboom.

 Kempston, originally from Dundee, calls  Edinburgh home. He is a talented finger style guitarist who has won awards and released nine CDs.
 Later on, Lacombe duo Jo-Jo O and The Woods make their Lethbridge debut at the Slice, Oct. 2. They spend most of their year touring Europe and The United Kingdom. They will be bringing a trio of Isle of Wight musicians to help them release their new CD  MoonChild. The show begins at 9 p.m.

But first, end September with laughter at the monthly comedy open mic at the Owl Acoustic Lounge on Wednesday, Sept. 26. The Owl also features a poetry open mic on Thursday, Sept. 27.

Bluesman Darryl Düus plays one last show at the Owl Acoustic Lounge with his own band  on Friday, Sept. 28 before heading back home to B.C.

Calgary geek punks the Galacticas  return to the Slice, Sept. 28 as well. Local punk band Sessions will be joining them.

 Cal Toth’s Duelling Pianos returns to Average Joes as well on Friday.
 Saturday will be hopping in Lethbridge. Start off Saturday on a mellow note at the Smokehouse with country folk band the Crooked Creek Warblers playing from 3-6 p.m.

Most local scenesters from a decade ago will be out in force at the Owl Acoustic Lounge, Sept. 29. Because local indie rock band the Necessities ( Devin Gergel, Thomas J Woodman, Dustin Gergel, and Steven Foord) have reunited for their semi-annual reunion show. As a bonus, alternative country band the Turncoats featuring Kyle Harmon, electric guitarist Arlen Wutch, bassist Paul Holden and Andrew Scott will be joining them. Roddy Watts from alternative rock band the Box Turtles fill out the bill. Admission will be by donation.

 But this week’s fun begins tonight as Hamilton/ Toronto based roots/rock trio Elliott Brood return to a familiar haunt– the Slice. Steven Foord will be opening the show at 8:30 p.m.
Tickets cost $25.
 A late announced all ages Tuesday metal show is happening at the Smokehouse. So bang your head with  Vancouver’s Obsidian, who include  members from Canada, Germany and France. Maple Ridge’s Truent who draw influences from the likes of Lamb of God, Revocation and Gojira. Local metal band Extrados open the show at 8 p.m. Admission is $10.
 And New West Theatre’s excellent production of the Million Dollar quartet kicks off their last week tonight at the Yates Theater. It closes on Sept. 29, so don’t miss it if you love old time rock and roll , rockabilly and country music
