L.A./Toronto musician Craig Stickland has a lot on the go from acting, modelling, running a studio furniture business and touring with everybody from Alessia Cara to Matthew Good.
Stickland will not only be opening for up and coming pop singer Tyler Shaw on his “Warning” tour, but will also be playing guitar in his band at Average Joes, Oct. 18.

“And the funny thing his Tyler’s drummer (Colin Kingsmore) volunteered to play drums with me so we’ll be doing a stripped down, White Stripes kind of set,” said Stickland, just finishing his first rehearsal with Kingsmore.

Stickland has been releasing singles since the beginning of the year including the latest, “Burn It Down,” and the focus single “Break Every Rule.”

“I like to blend blues, soul and R and B,” Stickland said.
The record label has two more focus singles ‘Golden Child’ and  ‘Starlit Afternoon,’ which will be the title of the album,” Stickland enthused.

He released his debut  EP “Leave Me To The Wild” in 2016.

“My manager is a visionary,” said Stickland, adding he convinced him to get into modelling and acting, to allow a flexible schedule to work on his music.

“ I just woodshedded on guitar from 2013-2014,” he said, adding the same manager started representing Alessia Cara and suggested Stickland as a guitarist.

“ He started representing Alessia before she had any songs or a band. Then she was nice enough to ask me to open for her. And that ended up being the most amazing experience of my life. I toured the world with her,” he enthused, adding that, in turn, lead to a tour with Coldplay.
“That was amazing. I grew up listening to Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin then got into more emotional musicians like John Mayer and Radiohead and Coldplay,” he enthused.
He is excited to tour with Tyler Shaw.

“ He’s had a lot of success in his career,” he said, adding he is happy to play guitar in Shaw‘s band as well.

“ He also needed a guitar player, so I was happy to do it,” he said.
“So it will be just like a big family hang,” he said.
opening for Matt Good was another highlight  for Stickland.

“ I’ve really been lucky,” Stickland said.
He never got to write with Alessia Cara.
“When you’re in the band, you you want to respect boundaries. But now we‘re touring on our own, it’s possible,” he said, adding he will playing with her a few shows in early November.
In between everything else, he has been busy fixing up his tour van to save on accommodations.

“I drove around California deserts shooting videos for  the Van sessions. That was a lot of fun seeing the best of these routes,” he said.

Tyler Shaw and Craig Stickland play Average Joes beginning at10:15 p.m., Oct. 18. Tickets are $20 in advance, $25 at the door.
