My timing has been off when it comes to seeing Vernon’s Eryn Kleyh’s projects. So I was really looking forward to seeing her play with October Poppy for Megan Rourke’s birthday party, Friday, Nov. 22.
Unfortunately Kleyh had to cancel the show.
So that left the stage open for George Arsene and Rourke to play.
I missed Arsene, but was pleased to see Rourke on stage again. She’s been keeping a low profile so it has been a while.
She played alone, strumming a beautiful electric guitar.
Most of her set was appealing alt country/indie rock originals, which reminded me a little of Kathleen Edwards and a little of Neko Case. But she also added covers of John Prine’s “Angel From Montgomery,” and ended her set by retuning to play a Patty Griffin song.
