Music for International Women’s week and more this week

The Lethbridge Community Band Society showcases female musicians and conductors  with special guest conductors Dr. Gillian Mackay, Cait Naighimura, LCI Gold Symphonie band, conductors Tanya Arnold, Karly Lewis, Karen van de Vendel at the College Drive Community Church, March 7 beginning at 7 p.m. Admission is $15, 12 and under get in for free.


 The night before, Calgary blues musician Erin Ross will be part of  a special songwriter’s circle at the Slice with fellow Calgarian Heather Blush and local musicians Shaela Miller and Ali Stuart.

 Theoretically BRewing has a special International Women’s Day matinee Show, March 8 from 1-5 p.m. featuring performances from Bailey Kate, Penelope Rose, makiisma, Blue and DJ Rabbyt.

 Admission is $10 kids under 10 get in for free.

The Slice features local rock band the Suit Jacket Society with Waterfront, March 7.
The Mark Hall band will be playing country and rock music at Casino Lethbridge this weekend, March 6 and 7.


 Tyler Bird hosts the Slice’s open mic on Thursday, March 5 as well.
 And Keith Woodrow hosts the Slice of blues jam on Tuesday, March 10.


 The Trippy Hippys host Honker’s Pub’s open mic on March 6 while Aaron Landry will host their afternoon open mic the next day.
Friends of the Galt Museum has a big  event, March 7 as they welcome the Great Canadian Barn Dance the the museum,7-11 p.m. There will be beef on the bun and a whole lot of down home fun. It is a fundraiser for community programming initiatives. Tickets are $30 for adults, $20 for Youth 11-17.

The Geomatic Attic and Southern Alberta Community Living Association hosts their annual Community Cabaret, March 7 at the Italian Canadian Cultural Centre. Local funk/R and B/ disco collective Hippodrome will be the main event. But there will also be entertainment from Jigging with Roy, Smooth Jazz with Ray and Circus Antics from Michael Bartz and Beyond Limits Dance Collective. The Cabaret begins at 7 p.m.. Tickets are $20.

 The Geomatic Attic has a blues show coming up March 12 with Calgary based blues man/ poet Ray Bonneville, who plays the Geomatic Attic, March 12. Tickets are $35 and $40. As usual the show begins at 8 p.m


 The Owl Acoustic Lounge has a busy week full of jazz music, beginning on Wednesday, March 4 with a jazz jam featuring HBO3.
And the Metrik Jazztet returns on Saturday afternoon, March 7. Skinny Dyck and the Chicken Catchers will be playing roots and country music, that night.
 The Owl has a big rock show, March 6 with Edmonton indie rock band Cypress plus local acts Tyler Vanden Dool and local rock band the Cayley.
Coming up on March 11, Celtic Illusion brings Michael Flatley, Lord of the Dance style Celtic  dancing, illusion, music and much more the the Enmax Centre, March 11.
 Tickets are $62.50-$84.50.

 Bavura Catering’s Sunday Brunch features local Celtic trio Celtic Routes. performing, March 8 at 10:30 p.m.
