Pop up concerts coming up this week

It’s great to have enough happening in Lethbridge to warrant a week’s preview.
 There are some very cool things happening this week as musicians and venues adapt to a post-Covid world.
 A couple of them involve porch, curb side, pop up or truck side concerts.


 The Lethbridge Folk Club presents a pop up concert with multi-instrumentalists Megan Brown and George Fowler from the Junkman’s Quire who will be performing Thursday, Aug. 27 at 7 p.m. in front of 1210 7 ave S.Megan Brown and George Fowler perform this week. Photo by Richard Amery
 And Calgary folk/ pop musician Michael Bernard Fitzgerald is kicking off his Farm Tour in Lethbridge, Sept. 2.  Fitzgerald is supporting is new CD “ Love Valley V3.2.

Purchase tickets through his website michaelbernardfitzgerald.com and  you will be e-mailed the address to a location within 45 minute of each tour stop.


This tour takes him all over Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick and back to B.C by the time to tour ends in Vancouver on Halloween.
 Good Times has been  bringing back live comedy for quite some time. This week, they feature Good Times founder Johnny Pogo, Aug. 28 and Sam Benty, Aug. 29. They perform shows at 7 .m. and 9:30 p.m.The Slice is starting to regularly feature live music again.

 This weekend, they feature local rock band the Waterfront on Friday, Aug, 28. Hard rock trio the Suit Jacket Society return to the Slice, Saturday, Aug. 29.
 Admission is by donation for each show.

The Owl Acoustic Lounge ins starting to dabble more in live entertainment again as well as they figure out how to best use their new outside stage.
 This week comedy open mics return beginning at 8 p.m. sharp. on the Owl stage.


 The open mics and shows start at 8 p.m. on the dot as they have to be done by 10 p.m.


The Lethbridge Handmade Market returns to Exhibition Park on Aug. 29  from 9 a.m.- 4 p.m. admission is five dollars.

The Nikka Yuko Japanese Gardens is presenting local Taiko drumming groups over the next couple of months.

This weekend, Hibikiya drummers will be performing at 1 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 30.
