We are living in challenging and confusing times. Covid is taking its toll physically  and mentally on a lot of people. For a lot of people, like me, live music is therapeutic. But for the next few weeks people will have to find their musical thThe Chevelles’ weekend shows at Sound Garden are among those canceled due to new AHS COVID restrictions.  As Covid cases continue to climb and with new restrictions in place, Lethbridge’s music  and entertainment  venues are trying to adapt. The Owl Acoustic Lounge announced on Facebook there will be no live music until further notice.

Soundgarden has decided to shut down for three weeks including cancelling the Chevelles this weekend who o were going to help Sound Garden celebrate their twentieth anniversary on the weekend.

Good Times also announced in Facebook also cancelled all of their comedy shows, emphasizing no Covid cases have come through their venue.
The Nikka Yuko  Japanese Gardens are still planning on holding their annual winter lights festival, but have cancelled  all horse and wagon rides  for Dec. 4 and 5 as well as Shakespeare Meets Dickens’ Dec. 8 show.

The South Country Fair has decided to cancel the remaining Dogstar online sessions featuring  Peter and the Wolves, Shaela Miller, John Wort Hannam and Ryland Moranz as they lost access to  the venues (the Empress Theatre and Stronghold Brewing) the shows were to be at according to a message from Trent Moranz. The previous three sessions are available on the South Country Fair  Facebook page and Youtube channels.
The Slice also expects to cancel their weekend shows including Tyrants of Chaos and SI .

With live entertainment venues  being forced to a standstill because of Covid, it is important to support them in any way possible. The Owl Acoustic Lounge and the Slice  are still delivering delicious food. The kitchen is also open at Honker’s Pub, which announced last week that they were discontinuing live music until it feels safe to resume.

It is just as important to shop local and support local crafts people and artists. So the big Christmas Farmer’s market at Exhibition Park,Nov. 27 and 28  is still a  go as of  Nov. 26. So give a Christmas gift to local businesses by doing your own Christmas shopping locally.
