This is a huge week for live music in Lethbridge.
The biggest show of the week is  the Sleeping With Tuesday CD release party at the Blarney Stone, June 25. Sleeping With Tuesday will be playing as well as Shawna Romolliwa, Jesse and the Sleeping With Tuesday debuts their new CD ‘Shuffle’ June 25 at the Blarney Stone. “It’s 11 tracks, but they’re all different. It’s called ‘Shuffle,’ because it’s like pressing the shuffle button on you iPod,” said bassist Dino Scavo.
“There is a lot of different influences on it. Diverse is a good way to describe it. There are a two solo acoustic numbers as well as some reggae and blues and pop,” he continued adding he is looking forward to the party.
And spending the past two years playing with Sleeping with Tuesday  frontman Johnpaul Smith has been a  highlight of his career.
“It’s the greatest thing that has ever happened to me. It’s been a lot of work, but a lot of fun,” he continued.
Hank Pine and Lily Fawn will open another very cool show, June 26 — the grand opening of the Owl Acoustic Lounge. Hank and Lily will be performing an acoustic set beginning at 7 p.m. Admission is free, but to get a guaranteed seat ticket, stop by the Lounge in the old O’Rileys/Mood/Squeaky’s Pub building this week.
Hannah Georges has rescheduled her show  as well for June 26 at the Slice. She canceled due to vehicle troubles last month. Amy Bronson will be opening the show.

2007 Canadian Idol semi-finalist Jaydee Bixbee is at Coyote Joes, June 26 as well. Trevor Panczac’s new CD release party was supposed to take place on June 26, but has been postponed due to the flooding in Nashville.
Don’t forget to check out some local talent throughout the week. Local jazz/pop singer Jolene Draper and her band have a gig at Beaches, June 26.

The Rotary  Dragon Boat Races is a great place to start looking at other local talent. There is something for everyone from outlaw county  with the Smokin’ Pistols  Saturday morning, to pop with Kelliane also on Saturday. Double Jack will appeal to grunge rockers, June 27 and bluesmen have Paul Kype and Texas Flood, June 25.
They have a pretty strong line up of entertainment  throughout June 25-27 at Henderson Lake Park. The schedule for that is  Friday: 4 p.m. Dusty Dee; 4:30 Glencoulee; 5:30 Jasmine; 6.00 Ammena Dance; 6:30 Opening Ceremonies; 7:00 Texas Flood;  8:30 Who’s Yer Daddy.

Sunday: 11:00 Michelle Treleleaven; 11:30 Shine; 12:30 Matt Robinson; 1:00 Rose Ceremony; 1:30 Doublejack;2:30 Desert Wind Belly Dancers; 3:00 Roughstock.

The first  live karaoke/ open mic Thursday nights at Coyote Joes showed it has a lot of potential during its debut, June 15. It was a low key affair with Paul Kype and Greg Gomola on stage with acoustic guitars, playing a variety of popular covers. They invited several performers up on stage to add an assortment of vocals and percussion. This Thursday there will be a full drum kit on stage as well as amps. They will also be adding the live karaoke component to it.
The new open mic at Bar One in the Sandman Inn also has potential, they didn’t have a lot of performers , so Salem Abraha spent most of the time on stage, though one girl played soft spoken originals and another man, Jay,  sung a couple covers with Abraha on guitar.

Those open mics continue this week along with the regulars open mics  at The Slice on Tuesday, which will be hosted by Treeline this week, the Good Earth Coffee House and Beaches on Thursday as well. And  The Lethbridge Folk Club has their regular  open mic in the Wolf’s Den on Friday night, June 25. So check one or all of them out for great local talent.
