A variety of music this week

There are a couple excellent shows this week.the Mudmen return to Lethbridge to play the Blarney Stone, July 9. Photo submitted
Several local bands are helping raise funds for  Womanspace, July 9 at  the Slice.
 Beginning at 8:30 p.m. John Greenshields, The Fred Penner Revival and the Record Holder will all be playing.


Ukulele playing multi-instrumentalist blues man Manitoba Hal Brolund is bringing Dr. Pinkham’s Medicine show with gospel/country singer Allison Brown and jazz /folk singer Leah Morise to the Mocha Cabana, July 8.
A July 10 show at the Slice will be a homecoming for two members of Vancouver blues-rock band Guerrista.
 Guitarist Pat Thom  and drummer Chris Henderson are former Lethbridgians who used to be in popular local band the Vespas.


Other cool shows this week include Toronto’s favourite bagpipe toting Celtic punks the Mudmen who will be playing the Blarney Stone, July 9.

It is also Street Wheelers weekend in between the roar of classic cars and hot rods  roaring down Mayor Magrath Drive, listen for the music of so check out Fast Times, July 9 and 10 at the Backstreet Pub downtown and Who’s Yer Daddy at the 1010 Pub, July 9. Whose Yer Daddy plays  from 7-11 p.m.
The Darryl Düus Band is playing Casino Lethbridge this weekend as well.

 


And  as always there are a lot of open mics including Salem Abraha’s open mic at the Bar One in the Sandman Inn on Wednesday, several on Thursday including open mics at  the Owl Acoustic Lounge, Beaches Pub and at Coyote Joes. The Lethbridge Folk Club’s open mic at the Wolf’s Den on Friday.
The Owl Acoustic Lounge also has a few shows this week including Salem Abraha, July 9 and Living Luca singer Bridgette Yarwood on July 10. Both of those shows start at 8:15 p.m. Owl has also started an acoustic open mic on Mondays. It begins at 8 p.m.
