Sun shines on Sunparlour Players’ Slice show

The Slice had yet another full house, July 29  for the Necessities and a return visit from Southern Ontario roots rock eclectic the trio Sunparlour Players.
 The Sunparlour Players’ intense, loud and amazing show was a drummer’s paradise as the three members exhibited mind-blowing prowess on a variety Sunparlour Players’ Andrew Penner tears it up on drums /bass and vocals. Photo by Richard Ameryof instruments, usually simultaneously.


 The main drummer also doubled on bass and accordion, plus xylophone.


Lead singer Andrew Penner played several guitars, broke most of the strings on his acoustic and didn’t miss a beat or a melody, plus added bass pedals, drums when needed as well as banjo. They keyboardist simultaneously added bass, plus drums and banjo during the band’s encore — an unusual version of AC DC’s ‘Thunderstruck.’


In addition to the astounding  multi-instrumentalism, the band also displayed some cool vocal harmonies and unstoppable energy, which kept the dance floor crowded with revelers.
