Prism returned to bring the spirit of the late ’70s back to Average Joes, Oct. 9 and get a lot of people dancing in the process.

I arrived in the middle of frontman/ lead guitarist Al Harlow’s slide guitar solo on what looked like a new three pick up, Paul Stanley Iceman guitar.

He beamed ear-to-ear as he picked every note.

 As usual that sequed into  one of many Prism hits “See Forever Eyes,” followed by “Young and Restless,” which he said he tried pitching to Rod Stewart.

His hits were punctuated by guitar solos, a newer track “Tangiers”  and lots of stories, not to mention colourful costume changes.

As always Harlow, who looked a little like Alice Cooper, spoke fondly of original lead singer Ron Tabak, noting he would have turned 57 on Sept. 25 and dedicated “Take Me Away” to him, which was followed by the ballad “Night To Remember.”

They picked up the pace with an upbeat selection including Mirror Man, which ended with a massive drum solo and Harlow playing a talk box solo, blasted into “Take Me To The Kaptin,”  then ended with their big hit “Armageddon.”

 They were called back for an encore which ended with their best known hit “Spaceship Superstar.”
