South Carolina/ Nashville based pop/ country singer Chris Lane is excited to return to Lethbridge to play the Enmax Centre with Locash, March 1 to open up PBR weekend at the Enmax Centre.
“It has been a couple years since I played Lethbridge. It was with Florida Georgia Line,” drawled Lane, at the gym, getting ready for the upcoming tour.
“Florida Georgia Line really took me under their wing, which I really appreciate, even when I didn’t have any music out. So I’ve toured with them lots of times. I’ve played Canada five or six times, though not Lethbridge. It always exciting,” he said.
“ I love Canadian audiences. They are always so excited to be there” he said.
“ This is my first headlining tour, which I’m really excited about, I get to stretch out a little. Though I don’t I think I’ll be headlining with Locash. I’m only doing the one show with them. But I’ve known them for years. It will be a really high energy night from the both of us,” he continued.
He has just released a new Ep, which will whet the appetite for a full length album due out later in the year. It features “Take Home Girl,” a duet with American Idol up and coming pop star Tori Kelly.
“ My management asked me who my dream collaboration would be and I said Tori Kelly, so they sent her the song and she loved it. It was actually done when they sent it to her. We actually changed the lyrics to better suit her and we re-recorded it,” he enthused.
“I feel good about it. I’m happy to see so many people are digging it. You really hope people will react positively when you release a song,” he continued.
“ We‘ll do a couple of performances together of it, but I’d love to do a tour with her,” he continued.
“Old Flame” is another highlight of the EP.
“It’s a song that is relatable to everyone. about breaking up with an ex and getting back together and breaking up again,” he said, adding he didn’t write the song, but chose it because he thought it would resonate with a lot of people.
“I write a lot of songs but I didn’t write any of them on the CD. I want to record the best songs possible whether I wrote them or not,” he said.
Lane said after this tour, he his going back into the studio to finish the album.
“I’m planning on having it finished by May or June. I’m excited to show people where I am now and show them the different sound,“ he said.
In addition to playing with Florida Georgia Line, Lane has played with numerous other luminaries like Garth Brooks.
“ That was such a cool experience getting to see how much hard work he puts into it, It’s amazing to watch someone at the top of their game like he is,” he said, adding he only played a couple of shows with Brooks.
“It’s very cool to play with someone I idolize. It’s very encouraging,” he said.
Chris Lane and Locash play the Enmax Centre, March 1 at 8 p.m.
