“It’s a raffle. And every ticket guarantees you a work of art,” said local artist Mary-Anne McTrowe, noting artists from all over the U.S. and Canada, including a handful of local artists, donated works for the raffle fundraiser entitled 3x8x10.

Just over 100 works from artists including Arianna Richardson, Leila Armstong  and artists from Calgary, Edmonton, Calgary, San Diego, Saskatoon and Winnipeg, plus several who have had exhibits at the SAAG,  are on display in the main hall of the SAAG until the big event, Dec. 10.

McTrowe said artist Colin Zipp suggested they try this  event in Lethbridge as Ace Art, a similar artist’s collective had success with it in Winnipeg.

Paticipants buy tickets and when their number is drawn they get to choose their favourite piece. The artists who donated works recieved tickets as well.

“In between the draw, people get a chance to look at the art and discuss it,” McTrowe contiuned adding there are a variety of different  piecs, photographs, photophantograms and other visual art  pieces plus a couple 3-D works.
“I’m so impressed and amazed by the generosity and the quality of the works that have been sent,” she continued.
“It’s exciting to see them supporting Trap\Door, she said describing Trap\Door as a collective of local artists who don’t actually share a studio , but share common artistic interests and tastes.

“There is a lot of variety,” she said some of the works come framed, though most don’t.
“We‘re so happy SAAG has been so generous. We’re grateful to have their support,” she continued.
Admission is free, though raffle tickets cost $35. Doors open at 7:30 p.m.
