thought I'd reclaim my personal biography. My friend Alex Hudson helped me with the first version and it's a great read - It says things about my past as a helping hand for Maurice, The Zolas, Counting Heartbeats and others. It says a few things about how Jonathan Anderson and I put together Versicolour in 10 days, over 2 years. I just wanted to tell you more.

I am Aidan Knight. I've lived my whole life in Victoria, BC and I've played music since I started piano lessons at 4. My mother was a touring songwriter and my father plays and collects guitars. I grew up in a second hand store in Chinatown - my folks have an amazing collection of almost everything. Ben Worcester and I met when I was 14 years old, and we both learned how to play guitar while teaching an after school program in New Aiyansh, BC (close to Alaska) Ben now plays in Vancouver band Said The Whale. I really love them.

Due to a lot of time and luck, I ended up with just enough money to ask my friend Jon to help record me. We made an album called Versicolour. We let banjos rattle with hand-mixers, telephones plug into guitar amps, and I even sang a little bit. All my friends in The O' Darling came to sing and play, and we took a photo as we were leaving. It's inside every CD I sell. I made 30 handmade copies before I opened for Tegan & Sara in Victoria; I got so nervous before the show that I hid in the bathroom. My friends helped me cobble together 70 before the night was over. Thanks Elaina!

Tyler Bancroft and I released the album through our new label, Adventure Boys Club on March 9th. I was in Ottawa. I remember holding the first disc in my hand and thinking "How am I ever going to sell this huge box of CD's?" Versicolour received unanimous reviews of "Good, but short" and a lot of people listened to Jasper when it was played on CBC Radio's Q. I ended up touring with We Are The City and Dan Mangan, and I am so thankful for all their help. I also toured Vancouver Island, the Sunshine Coast and Vancouver entirely by bicycle with The Malahat Revue (Said The Whale, Hannah Georgas, and Jeremy Fisher) and recently got back from a house concert tour with my band, The Friendly Friends.

I am currently in a contest for $100,500 from Vancouver radio station 100.5 The Peak. My Nana thought that it was the "Polaris Prize". It's actually the "Peak Performance Project"- She ended up calling Jian to clarify. Maybe that's how I got on Q? Thanks Nana.

I've played on stages with Patrick Watson, Frank Black (The Pixies), Julie Doiron, Matthew Barber, Attack In Black, The Acorn, Tegan & Sara, Dan Mangan, and more.

But you haven't heard my music yet, you are saying to yourself. A friend or a blog sent you here and you are looking at a list of titles in the music player. Where to start? No gimmicks, no pandering; I really hope that you like what you hear. People seem to enjoy listening to Jasper; That'd be my friendly recommendation for a first listen.

Best known as part of the Vancouver Indie Pop group, Hey Ocean! Vertesi just can't seem to sit still. Touring coast to coast countless times he also plays with artists such as Ontario rapper Shad K, Topless Gay Love Tekno Party, and recent EXCLAIM! covergirl Hannah Georgas.

Recently his attention has turned to his own music and he has spent his spare time in the last 6 months finishing a full length solo record with the help of Toronto musician/producer Jose Miguel Contreras (By Divine Right, Lily Frost, Hey Ocean!), as well as friends Aidan Knight and Tom Dobrzanksi (The Zolas).

Based on real people and events in his life, his songs are as distinct and personal as the stories he tells. His lyrics give simple yet careful depictions of enduring love and relentless doubt, while his low and consoling vocals reassure us that one inevitably leads to the other.

Like a diary it’s not meant to be profound, just honest.
