  The Playing Cards:

A lot has changed since The Playing Cards first released their 2007 debut album, “Fight Forward”. Those days are long gone and their musicianship and sound have matured significantly. As they look forward to releasing their latest EP entitled “Underwater” slated to be released on May. 15th 2009. Socially conscious and socially awkward “Underwater” is twenty-five minutes of heavypop that tips its hat to such artists as Sonic Youth, The Pixies, Neil Young and Pavement. The pop and folk hooks remain from “Fight Forward” only this time covered in gritty distortion and waves of feedback.  The Playing Cards line up has been consistent since their formation in the summer of 2005. With Cole Woods and Alannah Walker sharing vocals and guitar duty, David Schellenberg on the bass guitar, and Rob Gardiner holding it altogether on the drums, the songs are strong, and more capturing then ever. This constant effort has led them to share stages with bands such as The Elected, Great Lake Swimmers, Sebastian Grainger & the Mountains, and Margot & the Nuclear So and So’s. This summer we'll see The Playing Cards leave their home base of Winnipeg to embark on a two week tour of western Canada, allowing audiences for the first time to witness the captivating band that is Winnipeg’s own The Playing Cards.

  About Amelia Earhart

MyGenProfile GeneratorAmelia Earhart is a drum/bass duo from Lethbridge, Alberta. Forming in the summer of 2008 while James was house sitting, a living room was converted into a practice space and they began writing. Since that summer Amelia Earhart has gone on to record a five song EP entitled Sketelon. They have toured across Canada and in 2009 the band's music was featured in the independent film Hoodoo Voodoo. Known for their driving sonic assault with penetrating drums and fuzzed out bass riffs they are a live show not to be missed. Amelia's Future plans include recording another EP, and ample amounts of touring.

http://www.thesquarewaves.com/

Back in the year of 2000 the Square Waves was conceived, the original idea being "a Kraftwerk garage band".The Square Waves goal is to make electronic-based music with limited machines of limited capability, combined with a few modern tricks to create a sound that is both new and old. That's the official word anyway. The Square Waves is Jeff King. When The Square Waves plays live, we are also Paul Lawton, Ryan Shannon, and Jane Edmundson. The Square Waves is based in Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada, of all places.
