The Joe was not anything for a long time. There were parts of what he would be that were going off to high school and speaking languages like French and English and eating food and voting for politicians. Before that there were parts of what he would be pioneering western Canada and sailing boats to North America. Even before that and all along there were all these different parts of what The Joe would be one day that were busy having heated conversations about things that were happening long before The Joe happened. People then were concerned with many things they are concerned with now: stars, ethics, construction, health and well-being, spirituality, financial security, and what being a man means. And then, one day like most other days, on a whim most likely, The Joe was created out of a malignant fraction of these many concerns and doings and topics of discussion blended thoughtlessly with the best sort of ignorance humans have: Sex.
Next things Next, The Joe found himself under the affectionate gaze of his Mother, Kimberly. The Joe likes the name Kimberly. The Joe's father looked like a lion or a member of Credence Clearwater Revival, a quasi-contemporary country rock band that existed twenty years before The Joe got begotted. His Father was a glass fitter and his Mother was a waitress. They made two more boys that look similar to The Joe but behave very differently and then they went their separate ways. Somewhere along the way The Joe had his circuits bent by God or a bully or a bohemian upbringing and he found himself looking for validation in some more tangible attention-earning ways. One day it occurred to The Joe that he could see this validation come to fruition in a very tangible way: record sales! He started knocking on all the doors of his thoughts and connecting the words that sounded alike. All those conversations of his macro-ancestry became inexhaustible in their utility. He could gather and weave their meandering thoughts on stars, ethics, construction, health and well-being, spirituality, financial security, and what being a man means into elaborate 'rap' songs wherein the subject of focus was rhymed incessantly in it's verbose delivery, be it a lesson, a diatribe, or a dissertation. Ever since he has been busy collecting smiles and frowns and knowing glances on the bus. He has subliminally documented all those special occasions when he has been snubbed, overlooked, praised, over praised, and sold CD's, respectively. Every firm handshake builds his heart. It has all compiled into an ambient blend of bitterness, confidence, self respect, and most importantly, priceless validation. The Joe doesn't foresee an end to this madness. He is always hungry.

Remember the moment, on the second date, when you weren’t sure if you should lean in for that humble kiss? The glance to the left after your wide eyes held each other just a moment too long? Doug Hoyer does, and he’ll refresh your memories with melodies.'  I've toured coast to coast, released some records, performed at some festivals (Halifax Pop Explosion! Edmonton's Ukulele Festival! &more), played a zillion shows and am always looking forward to the next one.

Jesse and the Dandelions http://jesseandthedandelions.com/

Jesse Northey was a figure skater but not just any figure skater, he was the best. And at home in Fernie, BC he was also the only boy who did such a thing.
This made him a magnet for young girls who dreamt of being lifted and twirled into a
long, healthy skating career.
That was until grade seven hit. Literally.
Jesse got beat up on a regular basis for his high-flying passion.
He knew there was only one thing he could do to turn things around, and that was
redemption… testosterone redemption.
Jesse knew he needed to get a guitar.
So off he went with his entire family, all the way to the bustling metropolis of Lethbridge, Alberta to buy his first electric. A shiny, blue, stratocaster knockoff- “Yamaha Pacifica”
But Jesse also knew, he couldn’t get by on the whiney acoustic stuff. He needed to
learn the hardest and the fastest of songs, quickly.
Metallica. The answer was as hardcore as he was.
“If I can play those songs, I can play anything,” he thought to himself.
So he practiced, and he practiced and when the time was right he began to sing.
And so it began….

Meanwhile, in the same magical year that was seventh grade, Nick was at home in his
mother’s basement playing acoustic shows for all the teddy bears he could find.
By day, he was his bass-playing father’s prodigy but by night, he was raring to become
his own hero.
A rockstar.
So after years of tampering on his papa’s old acoustic, Nick came up from the
basement, arguably entered the same theoretical guitar shop as Jesse had, and bought an electric.
Then joined the school band.
Nick strummed his heart out in the back line, playing a whopping two chords per minute
to such classic hits as ‘Silent Night’.
Sure, it wasn’t exactly what he had in mind, but Nick would settle his ambitions by
reminding himself,
“Oh yeah, I’m the coolest guy in the band.”
But something was about to change. . .

The two young men began to mingle with their ambitious guitars at hand and something
magical happened, they began to play music.
Now Nick’s basement had not one aspiring rock icons, but two!
Until one day when Vancouver progressive-rock band, Incura, tracked down the two
men.
“Hey, you play music right,” asked the band.
“Yeaaaa,” replied Jesse and Nick, hesitantly.
This was it. The grand opportunity to play their first show.
They had two months to do the unthinkable… write their own music.
And so they came up from the basement, out into the streets of Lethbridge and
recruited a band.

And before they knew it, that band had a slew of original songs.
But they still lacked one thing- a name.
“Jesse and the Broken Compasses?”
“No.”
“Jesse and the Ice Agents??”
“No.”
“Well this is ridiculous,” exclaimed Jesse. “If we don’t have a band name by the
morning, we’re going to be… Jesse and the Dandelions!”
There it was, ‘the threat.’
The sun went down and the sun came back up again to shed it’s rays on a pile of band
members who had passed out unnamed.
And so there they were,
Jesse and the Dandelions.

Jesse and the Dandelions are Jesse Northey, Nick Vedres, and Jon Martin . With the addition of Jon Martin, holding down the fort on the bass, and the original two members of the indie-rock sensation, Jesse and Nick, this band has monumental plans to redefine ‘music you can have fun to.’

Since releasing their first album, The Lion’s Tooth, in the summer of 2010, the band
has been known for their high-energy, interactive performances as well as their catchy
songs that will leave you singing along and dancing for days.
But the fun doesn’t stop there.
The momentum of such a positive response from fans has pushed Jesse and the
Dandelions towards meeting a higher standard.

Jesse and the Dandelions are inspired and have already played alongside Canadian bands such as Said the Whale, Hey Ocean!, Attack in Black, and We Are the City, as well as recently making their debut on CBC Radio 3, cross Canadian campus community radio stations, and Alberta’s province wide station, CKUA. Keep your eyes peeled, your limbo-pants on and your dancing shoes ready, for their second full-length album and tour dates coming soon!
