Karen received her first guitar from her parents at the age of six. Learning theory from a Conservatory music teacher and taking lessons from a variety of musicians who dared to venture out to the boonies of flatland Milo, Alberta, she began her lifelong passion for music.

Starting out, like many before her, in the small town church choir and moving on to opening for the likes of Colin James, Gaye Delorme, Willie P. Bennett, Jake Mathews, Dave Gunning, House of Doc and Rob Szabo she continued to play the club scene across the Western provinces. In September 2009 Karen joined "Sirens of Song" for one concert where she shared the stage with Juno award winners Lynn Miles and Melanie Doane along with critically acclaimed singer/songwriter Catherine MacLellan. "You deserve to be here. You are a great singer/songwriter!" Quote to Karen from Juno award winner Lynn Miles during their live performance.

2010 was a great year as Karen has had the pleasure of opening for Katherine Wheatley and guitar virtuoso Wendell Ferguson. She then had a second appearance with Juno award winner Lynn Miles, performed an opening set for Leeroy Stagger in September and an opening set for Juno award winners The Good Lovelies in November. She then performed an opening set for Juno nominee Jill Barber in December to cap off the year.

Cudos also to Karen's vocal coach, Brian Farrell (worked with Paul Brandt, Kaylan Porter and Lindsay Ell) who has been such a positive influence to her career. A respect for a variety of different musical artists shows in her live set list, ranging from folk, country roots and blues mixed in with her original material. This is a singer/songwriter you don't want to miss! One last quote ... "Karen is a hidden gem" ... Mike Spencer, Geomatic Attic, Lethbridge, AB.

SPECIAL NOTE: Karen has completed her 2nd CD entitled "Dance". It was a long haul but well worth it! She was very priviledged to have Wendell Ferguson (7 time CCMA Guitar Player of the Year) grace her CD for 2 songs. Have a listen to some tunes from it that are posted here. Some reviews have already come in ....."they sound wonderful"...Lorelei.

"AWESOME!!! lov'em"...Carol. "Awesome CD!"...Rob. "Your best work yet!"...Mark Campbell (Global Television).

"Romanchuk has a definite Lucinda Williams tinge to her world wearied voice. Her melodies are very memorable especially Blue, Blue, Heart. While dance isn't the first thing you think about when hearing Karen Romanchuk's latest CD, good music is. It is an enjoyable and upbeat listen."...Richard Amery (L.A. Beat). Here are some reviews from her first CD "Shine"......"What a nice CD it is! It showcases Karen's excellent voice and strong songwriting. It's also got great production values. She deserves serious praise for this."...D'Arcy. "It was Shine that I really liked. Great song!"...Jeff. "Hey Karen...listened to your CD...really enjoyed it...really well produced and great songs"...Mark Campbell (Global Television). "The CD Shine has an excellent country/folk sound with superb songwriting"...Richard Amery (L.A. Beat). "A cross between Waylon Jennings, Steve Earle and Lucinda Williams. She writes strong, rich folk and roots. Her material was formed as if it were at the crossroads between Country Rock, the famous Texas Outlaw and rootsy folk scene"...Ctrl. Alt. Country, Belgium.
