Long long ago, back when the world was young—that is, sometime around the year 2006, two individuals of musi-artistic temperament, Daniel Wong, Mary-Anne McTrowe, were summoned to the mountainous regions of the north. It was here, while enduring not only the harsh climes, but also bear, elk, and T-rex attacks on a regular basis, a voice of a sub-sub-genre of musical art was forged. This was not, however, without precedent. A seed had been planted and events had been set in motion naught but one year earlier when Mary-Anne and Daniel had joined forces to unleash upon the world the destructive energies of their combined powers in the form of a rock-opera (yet to be completed.) And so,in the majestic Southern Continental Ranges of the Canadian Rockies, it was only a matter of time before the the two intrepid heroes united once again, this time as the Cedar Tavern Singers AKA The Phonoréalistes to fight the good fight and to sing the good song (and occasionally the bad song.)

Sonis McAllister (Lethbridge)

Sonis McAllister is a writer of poetry and prose who is active as a spoken word artist with the Most Vocal Poets Society in Lethbridge and has work that is periodically heard on CKUA’s “The Road Home”.

Sonis will be performing in two capacities. One set will be a display of surreal and potential literature. The other will include Sonis being joined by the Barracuda Orchestra, where story telling to inebriated carniesque hobo jazz will be the mode of communication.

Lance Semak ( Lethbridge)

Lance Semak was born in Lethbridge, AB, raised in Lethbridge, AB, schooled in Lethbridge, AB, and currently teaching at Lethbridge College, Lethbridge, AB. Lance enjoys large train bridges, cold winters and a daily gust of wind to give him that extra push through life. Lance likes to write prose and poetry while eating cracked pepper and olive oil Triscuits. If the Triscuits run out, he moves on to Vegetable Thins.
