"Here is acoustic, rock, bluesy, torch, indie jive, country psychedelic, soul-baring beautiful music that those with a need to hear a new point of view ought to get off their butts and obtain. This album matters."
John McClure, Victory Music Review

Sarah Burton is preparing to release a new album! Fire Breathers consists of 13 songs spun together by a spaghetti-western love story that follows three imperfect characters -- the outlaw, the lady, and the man who was too good -- through the torments and the pleasures of the heart. The album will be released in summer/fall 2012 and in the mean-time Sarah is hitting the highways! Tour dates on the "shows" page.

She's a rambler, a gambler, a lover and a fighter; Sarah Burton's steady and soulful voice tells the tales of life with beauty, strength and weariness, and an ever-present sense of excitement. Her sound rocks and rolls with just the right amount of country and pop influence. Sarah has been spreading this excitement throughout North America since 2006, having her music featured in the Lions Gate feature film "Cabin Fever 2", opening for pop sensation Kate Voegele at Toronto's Opera House in 2009, and receiving recognition for her song Then Run Away, being named Best Folk Song by Toronto Exclusive magazine in 2009. A relentless road warrior who spends months on the road at a time, Sarah released her debut EP Love is for Pussies in 2007, with Juno-award winning producer John Switzer, and followed it up in 2010 with her full-length album Mayflower;

"a country dusted folk album of steel guitars and sweet sorrow"
Brad Wheeler, The Globe & Mail

Mayflower is a powerful, well received collection of folk-rock music that forays into country and pop rhythms. Acoustic, steel and electric guitars make their mark on the songs and themes of travel, luck and love affairs are dispersed amid the collection, ranging from edgy and independent, to vulnerable and romantic. Accompanying the Mayflower release is a video for How Good You Are, thanks to a grant from Videofact, released in February 2011. A second video for the album was released in February 2012, for the song Gravity.

Born in Ottawa, Sarah has lived in several Canadian cities through her life, but is currently calling Toronto home. Her career has seen her play NXNE, Canadian Music Week, Winterfolk, We Are Many Festival, Brandon Folk Festival, the North Country Fair and BC's Music on the Mountain, in addition to the many live music venues across the country. She's enjoyed radio play across Canada including the CBC and into the US, being heard in Los Angeles and Las Vegas. Classically trained on the piano at the Royal Conservatory of Music, she turned to rock when she was introduced to the sounds of Tori Amos by a piano teacher, and discovered her fathers old Spanish guitar, kicking off the songwriting history of the inimitable Sarah Burton.
