 Just imagine a tidal wave of synths, sequencers, and drum hits rolling over you on the dancefloor like a happy fog of dreamy goodness, dreamy goodness that can also turn punchy and sock you in the guts with a bass marshmallow. Wierd? Maybe. Who cares. Its Shout Out. Those of you in the know have an inkling of what I'm talking about, hopefully. Those of you that aren’t in the know need to wise up and catch them live.

Opening is one of my favorite Calgary bands, a young group of lads called The Shagbots. Also very fun and well worth the cover.

It was in a ‘musty,’ poster laden, instrument filled, basement spare room in Northwest, Calgary, where the Shagbots were born. It started in Spring 2006, at the age of 16. Three years later the Shagbots are two demos stronger, and countless shows wiser. Inspired by the likes of, Beija Flor, Joy Division, Death From Above 1979, the Clash, Arctic Monkeys, and the Strokes; the Shagbots have forged their own honestly unique sound in a scene catering to the norm.

They have played note worthy events, such as opening for Sled Island’s headlining acts, The Mae Shi (Los Angeles) and DDMMYYYY (Toronto). Also playing along other respected Canadian Indie acts, Ladyhawk (Vancouver), All Purpose Voltage Heroes
(Edmonton/Vancouver), Trike (Vancouver), Sharp Like Knives (Halifax), the Dudes (Calgary), and others.

In the Fall of 2008, the Shagbots received recognition for their catchy, original, dance punk music in FUEL 90.3’s, ‘big Rock Star Competition.’ They surpassed well known calgary acts such as Hot Little Rocket, Seventh Rain, and Kara Keith to finish in the Top 3 bands in all of Calgary.

Shout out out out out is made up of nrmls wlcm label bosses Nik Kozub and Jason Troock, whitey houston members Lyle Bell and Gravy, sketchy casanova Will Zimmerman, and a lil' spazz named Clint Frazier. They are a live spectacle, leaving jaws dropped and dance floors filled with their chaotic blend of epic bumpin'. Hell yes, let us do the electro rock and dance the night away.
