Freddie Lester
Freddie
is Diezel’s lead singer and rhythm guitar player. Born in Beardmore,
Ontario and raised on Rocky Bay Reserve he started singing at seven
years old in his school choir. He enjoys a wide variety of music,
ranging from Johnny Cash to the Grateful Dead, Metallica to George
Strait and nearly everything in between.
Joining his first band at
age 13, Freddie played mostly in the Garage (lol), but the reaction of
those listening and the smiles on their faces solidified to him that
this is what he wanted to do for the rest of his life. In 1997 he was
presented with the opportunity to sing again, through singer song writer
Ed Molyski, this time with his brother.
For the next 5-7 years
Diezel played many venues throughout western Canada and into the USA.
Diezel toured the Gulf of Mexico, entertaining thousands of people from
all over the world on the Rhapsody of the Sea, sailing in and out of
Galveston, Texas.
Dedicated to his late father in 2007, Freddie
alongside his brother, released their debut album DAY ONE, under their
last name ‘Lester’. Freddie is extremely proud of the two songs on the
album he penned, ‘Diezel Countrified’ and ‘Life Flies’. ‘Life
Flies’ topped the charts in 2008 on NCI.
Freddie would like to thank YOU the fan for your continued support! He looks forward to making you smile soon.
Billy Dunkley
Billy
is the drummer and also sings harmonies for Diezel. His love of music
began at an early age of 5 when he began singing for his church
congregation. The thrill of being on stage in front of so many people,
smiling and applauding, gave him the heartfelt desire to pursue his
talents for the rest of his life.
Billy started playing drums at the
age of 11, as he recalls, at a friend's house while listening to Cheap
Trick. He went home with the drums that day and has never looked back!
Billy
has spent many years in both the rock and country market as the"singing
drummer" that compliments every band he becomes a part of. His back-up
and lead vocals lend that extra professionalism to every musical
situation he finds himself in. Whether working diligently on his own
songwriting, or lending his talents to an independent or cover project,
Billy is content just to be playing.
Billy is the backbone which keeps Diezel going forward.
Lukas Bilinski
Lukas plays the lead guitar and sings.
Born
in Edmonton and exported to Saskatchewan at age 4… What do you do
through the long winter on a farm in Saskatchewan? Lukas played guitar,
and then played more guitar and in his spare time…played guitar. After
playing 8 years in Saskatchewan with his father he moved to Calgary to
play full time.
After moving to Calgary and playing full time with
Cheyenne for 9 years he had to cave and get a job when the band slowed
their schedule to weekend gigs. After the past few years gigging part
time he was persuaded to quit his full time job to join Diezel!
Lukas is excited to pursue his passion full time touring with Diezel.
Kelly Koebel
Kelly plays bass guitar, sings, and helps anchor the band.
He
was born in Edmonton to musical parents and spent the next 20 years in
the area singing in choirs and playing guitar in garage bands. He formed
a love of Bass at an early age. When Kelly moved to the coast, he
bought a bass and an amp, and went to work with his Dad gigging in
Powell River.
After studying Jazz for 2 years he returned to his
country roots. Kelly has toured across Canada and into the US playing
Festivals, Honky-Tonks, and some downright scary places. For the
majority of the past 24 years Kelly has been a mainstay live with the
bands Coyote Moon, The Brent Lee Band, and Savage West. As well, he has
done recording sessions for several projects.
Kelly is looking forward to tearing it up and seeing more of the country with Diezel.
