For over 25 years, Evan's diverse artistic path has taken him on a variety of missions that have included varying forms of indie rock, acoustic and electric folk, off-kilter electronic rock and off-time geek/prog. His live show includes projections of experimental and wildlife videos as well as digital and analogue slides of the Canadian landscape photographed by Evan and his best friend Sheena Black.

Evan has played in numerous groups over the years including Burndog Hyena, Blind Archer, Space Junk, Uneven Steps, Red Sugar, Four Food Groups of the Apocalypse, Pet Fairies, Sanne Lambert Trio, 7th Image, Transylvanian Polka and The Roothless Mayhem Band. Evan is a multi-instrumentalist and can sing lead, harmony and play guitar, bass, drums, clarinet and keyboards.

As a solo artist, Evan has toured from Vancouver to the US West Coast 3 times and across Canada 5 times (twice Evan toured as far as St John's Newfoundland, once to Halifax Nova Scotia and twice to Southern Ontario). He has also toured in the US and Canada with Uneven Steps, Red Sugar, Four Food Groups of the Apocalypse, and Transylvanian Polka.

Since 1993, many of the recording that Evan has been involved with have been released on his Step and a Half label. To date, his label has released 6 cd's and 2-7 inches. His latest solo cd, "Death and Other Subjects", was released in early 2009.

Evan has been involved with College Radio at the University of British Columbia (CITR) since 1988. For many years, he worked with Nardwuar the Human Serviette as the sound person for the Thunderbird Radio Hell show which features live performances of local and touring musicians. After Nardwuar left the show, Evan took over as host for 4 years. Evan continues to assist the show with sound and hosting on a part time basis.

Evan Symons grew up in Prince George BC (Canada) and moved to Vancouver BC in 1988. In 2007, Evan and Sheena bought a house on Texada Island where they now live part-time. They continue to work in Vancouver where they rent a small apartment. In addition to his musical endeavours, Evan runs a small private consulting business. He also worked for a regional railway for over 20 years.
