We celebrate the depth and breadth of trumpet music with Josh Davies. Our evening begins with Baroque composer Tomaso Albinoni’s Concerto for Trumpet and Strings, followed by Leopold Mozart’s Trumpet Concerto in D Major, a popular piece for trumpeters, and Eric Ewazen’s A Hymn for the Lost and Living. The evening then continues with Debussy’s String Quartet, his only completed composition for this genre, and influenced by Russian composer Borodin and Javanese gamelan music. Finally, we close the program with music by Argentine composer Astor Piazzolla, who incorporates elements from jazz and classical music.
