Our Mission Statement: "The Lethbridge Community Band Society is committed to the prospect of enriching the quality of life in the City of Lethbridge and surrounding area by promoting the study and performance of instrumental music, with special emphasis on literature of the concert band and various forms of ensemble music commonly written for woodwind, brasswind and percussion instruments".
The Lethbridge Community Band was formed in 1987 to fill a void in the Lethbridge music scene; namely, to provide a learning and performance outlet for brass, woodwind and percussion players of all ages. 2012-13 marked our 25th Anniversary of offering music to Southern Alberta.
Since it's inception the Society has grown to become a valued cultural asset of Southern Alberta, having offered performances to hundreds of concert patrons, schools and students.

BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION
LETHBRIDGE COMMUNITY SILVER BAND
The Silver Band was founded in 1988 a year following the start up of the Gold Band. It's role in the organization is to provide a learning and performance group to meet the needs of the 'rusty' or intermediate player looking for an opportunity for playing with more comfortable technical demands.
The group performs a minimum of four concerts a year as well as actively providing performances at many civic events.
UNIVERSITY OF LETHBRIDGE JAZZ ENSEMBLE
The University of Lethbridge Jazz Ensemble performs an eclectic mix of repertoire of contemporary and vintage big band jazz music. The band consists primarily of music majors as well as other interested students from a variety of disciplines. Each year the band performs several times, both on and off campus, and makes a point of performing for school audiences and conducting workshops with school groups whenever and wherever possible.
The band also enjoys collaborating with a wide variety of guest artists. In recent years, the band has shared the stage with our own Fine Arts faculty Dale Ketcheson, Joanne Hounsel, Patrice Jegou, and Adam Mason; school and community groups such as the Lethbridge Big Band, the Lethbridge Collegiate Institute Vocal Jazz Choir; and a number of local high school jazz bands. Concerts have also featured several of Canada's top jazz musicians, most notably, alto saxophonist PJ Perry, trumpeter Don Clark, and tenor saxophonist Pat Belliveau.
Auditions are at the beginning of each semester and are open to everyone. For more info contact the director at

Casa is the realization of a 20 year dream, shared by many in the Lethbridge arts community, to expand or replace the Bowman Arts Centre. This unique new facility far surpasses the original vision for expansion, and sets a new standard for interdisciplinary arts centres. It is about experimentation, incubation, learning and growing. Casa was built to serve a multi-generational community, with varying art skill sets and interests in all disciplines of the arts.
Designing the building was a comprehensive and collaborative process led by Nyhoff Architecture from (Calgary) working in conjunction with the local architectural firm of Ferrari Westwood Babits. The Architectural team visited numerous arts education institutions and also met with members of the local arts community to define requirements for a truly functional 42,000 square foot art centre. The resulting building design is truly impressive.
Funding for the project were provided by the Federal Build Canada Fund ($6,000,000.), the Provincial MSI Fund ($14,900,000.) and the City of Lethbridge ($200,000).
