Windy City Opry 2nd anniversary with Peter and the Wolves and Eve Hell and the Razors
Wed, Dec 12
The Slice - Lethbridge

Time: 8 p.m.

Howlin' Pete and his Wolves will rock you back in time and you'll want to shake it like it's 1955! From hard hitting original rock and roll to your favourite classics you may have forgotten you loved, you're gonna swing, shimmy and shake all night long.

Calgary's Peter and The Wolves!!

All from Calgary, Pedro Lowe plays the bass, Dillon Pates plays the drums and Howlin' Pete Cormier is the singer, song writer, guitar and piano player.

“Peter & the Wolves, a gang of young bucks from the wilds of Bowness, aim to bring their signature, swing-infused rockabilly to stages across Alberta. Barely 21, frontman Peter Cormier already has an amazing presence and confidence in his vocals and guitar playing. Backed by another qualified newbie, bassist Theo Waite, and a drummer rooted in the rockabilly scene, the trio is setting out to showcase a sound many listeners never had a chance to hear firsthand. They’ve just started work on their first studio recordings, and hope to release a debut album sometime in the near future. Cormier, a tremendous jailhouse rock’n’roll guitar slinger follows the same path paved by Duane Eddy, Eddie Cochrane and Brian Setzer and. Fans of these legends will not be disappointed.”

Peter & the Wolves

Deep in the wilds of Calgary, nestled along the river valley, lies the suburban outpost of Bowness. Following the Second World War, veterans moved in and carved out a rough ’n’ ready hepcat culture of their own— the hotel bar and beauty parlour, the pool hall and ice cream store, angle parking filled with four door sedans while rat rods roamed down the main drag on Saturday night gave it all the markings of a small town serenade lying just beyond the bright city lights. Generations later, community pride is sewn on the sleeves of its residents along with “I Love Bowness” bumper stickers slapped on the back of beat up Subarus and Honda Civics.

Out of this big heart hideaway comes Peter and the Wolves, a fresh-faced rockabilly outfit shaped by their forefathers’ rowdy, unstoppable urge to shake it up. Led by Howlin’ Pete Cormier, the Wolves were playing the bar scene while half its members were still in high school. Pete flashed his guitar and lady-killer good looks, as Theo dug deep into his stand-up and Paul cranked out soul-scorching keyboard solos. Elvis, Eddy Cochrane and CCR were mixed in with House of the Rising Son and Rock Lobster. Sweat dripped from their brow and soaked their sharkskin suits; they pulverized the room and left them panting for more.

Rockabilly with an infectious R&B groove, heartful of twang ’n’ soul, four-on-the rock ’n’ roll wrapped around Howlin’ Pete’s honey-coated vocals and little boy smile that leaves them cryin’ in the aisles. Today Bowness; tomorrow the world.

Eve Hell and the Razors

Dear Music Lover;
Hello, this is Eve here. Intentions are to keep this authentic, so I'm just going to lay it out for you instead of hiring a fan to write our bio. Eve Hell and the Razors is a *North* Americana 3 piece featuring the music of early 50s rock known as Rockabilly, but we’re from Canada so there is always a nice mosaic of other music blended in to try to include everyone who walks into our shows. The band started in the genre Psychobilly (essentially punk rock with an upright bass that play songs about old horror B-movie themes) and has now expanded into something more rootsy and earthy.. and more than 3 chords. My first paid gig was 1989, so, um, not new to this at all. Haha. I think that’s even before the internet, isn’t it? goodness. Art is the main source of income for all members of the band. I think that speaks for itself as to our quality. We've played Canada, the States, and Europe, which was awesome and we’d like to go back and add in Australia and Asia to that list as well, soon. We are blessed to be experienced and happy to have skills valued by many. We love to play and are grateful that so many have given us the chance to share with them.
We are back in full swing starting June 2018. Album #4 is due early fall of 2018 and will be on our label Transistor 66. Also check out the movie True Fiction, we will be on that sound track when it is released and we are currently working on another movie soundtrack, TBA. Festivals and other gigs will be in the shows listings.
Thanks for listening and checking in on us. We appreciate the visit and all the support through the years. Have a wonderful day,
Peace and Love
