Guitar legend brings The Amos Garrett Jazz Trio to the Empress
Fort Macleod, AB (Feb. 26, 2016) – The Amos Garrett Jazz Trio, fronted by the legendary guitarist
himself, will bring a memorable night of jazz to the Empress Theatre on Saturday, March 12, 2016 at
7:30 p.m.
Garrett is a world-renowned musician, famously known for his guitar solos on Maria Muldaur’s recording "Midnight at the Oasis” and Anne Murray’s “Snowbird”. During his five-decade musical journey, he has written and recorded his own music and has also played alongside other artists including
Stevie Wonder, Emmylou Harris and Bonnie Raitt. Over the years, Garrett has appeared on more than 150 recordings, covering the gamut of musical genres: rock and roll, jazz, folk, pop, blues and country.
Garrett has received widespread critical acclaim for his eclectic and creative music, including two Junoawards. He invented a style of guitar playing called multiple string bending, which can be heard on his
numerous recordings.
The Amos Garrett Jazz Trio is rounded out by Alberta-based guitarist Keith Smith and Greg Carroll on string bass.
