Kirby Criddle is not your typical prairie-born, grass-fed, apple-cheeked songstress. The twenty-four year old indie-folk singer songwriter hails from Saskatoon, and while her music is reminiscent of the fact that she makes her home in the heart of the prairies, it has its own "je ne sais quoi" that you'd be hard pressed to put your finger on. And that's just how she likes it.

Having recently released her debut album, Vena Cava, Criddle plans to conquer the universe over the rest of the year, exchanging home-cooked meals and cookies for a comfy place to sleep in your house! She will also spend much of the tour honing her driving capabilities, because her "tour bus" is currently a three-speed brown bicycle with a wicker basket. Cute, yes, but not very conducive to taking the world by storm.

Criddle's music is a delightful fusion of rich, earthy vocals, raw, honest lyrics and simple, organic melodies on guitar and piano. "That soul exposed is what could warm any critic's heart. (yes, THAT Andrew W.K.). Over the past two years, she has spent the summers playing various music festivals (Sled Island/Mortlach Berry Festival/Ness Creek/We Are Many/Shambhala), and was also voted second best vocalist in the Planet S Best of Saskatoon Poll. Her career is rapidly gaining momentum, but Criddle’s long been off and running.
