Mark Ceaser: Rock / Folk / Country AT 3PM

www.myspace.com/markceaser

Mark Ceaser's percussive guitar and heavy rhythm set the tone for his sincere story telling and emotionally driven songwriting. His new solo project is a natural step forward from his previous work with folk rockers Sexually Attracted to Fire. Over the last two years Mark Ceaser has performed at the Regina Folk Festival, Ness Creek Music Festival and JunoFest, sharing the stage with Sarah Slean, Wil, Rachelle van Zanten, David Celia, Peter Katz, and Cuff the Duke.

Mark Ceaser’s debut EP, titled Burma Road, is a collection of experiences, emotions, and responses to growing up on the Canadian Prairies. His contemporary folk lyrics expose the complexity and reality of rural living. Ceaser enlists the talents of producer Ross Nykiforuk (The Northern Pikes, Deep Dark Woods, Sheepdogs) to create songs that give listeners a place to go that is both fresh yet familiar.

With Farideh www.myspace.com/faridehmusic

Farideh (pronounced “fair-ah-day”) is a singer-songwriter from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Perhaps best described as a fusion of folk and R&B, Farideh’s music is a tantalizing blend of tradition and invention, with lyrics that excite the raw emotion in all of us. For Farideh, music is part of the healing process. With her sultry vocals and passionate melodies, she can grasp the strands of a broken heart and strum them until the ache is gone. Her songs traverse a variety of musical landscapes, from the barren plains of a prairie winter to a comfy chair in the glow of a soft flame.

Growing up in a musical family, Farideh could often be found perched on the couch performing “I’m a Little Teapot” for visiting relatives. Fortunately for her fans, Farideh’s musical tastes and abilities have matured throughout the years. She taught herself to play the guitar in her early teens and has since honed her skills in a variety of intriguing settings and with many inspiring musicians.

Farideh released her first album, “Seasons of Loving,” in 2003, which received national rotation on public and private radio. Her musical travels have taken her across Canada, performing at a variety of venues and festivals, as well as several exotic locales including the Australian outback and the National Theatre of Uganda.

After a number of years of musical self-discovery, Farideh is set to release her second album, “Symphony of Chemistry,” in early October 2008. Her new album is a quintessential evolution of her unique style, fusing elements of bluegrass, pop and folk. The journey to complete the album has certainly been an interesting one. Recording in a small Saskatchewan village (in which her father is mayor), has involved everything from impromptu renovations to a power source MacGyvered from a car battery and vintage surge protector. The resulting sound is a tour de force that embodies the energy and effort with which it was nourished.
