Live Beat Gig Guide

Event

Title:
Ukulele jam
When:
Sun, Oct 14
Where:
Lethbridge
Category:
Folk

Description

Time:2-3 p.m.

Cover: a dollar or two

Our next jam is next Sunday, October 14, 2pm to 3pm at Casa. There won't be a jam in November, but we'll meet again December 9. Start practicing those Christmas/ Anti-Christmas/ Hanukka/ Midwinter/ Yule tunes! We've already got a handful of seasonal tunes in the dropbox (filed under "Christmas") , but feel free to bring new ones.

Speaking of the dropbox (https://bit.ly/2GM7Qre), I have updated the Index (direct link: https://bit.ly/2NrXAqt). As always, it's in alphabetical order by song title, with the folder location. Have a look through and see if there is a song or two that you think would be good for Play Your Ukulele in Public Day in February- we can talk about this with Donna and some of the other Ukuladies next week.

Do you have a ukulele? Do you want to play with other people? LET'S DO IT!

We'll gather in the meeting room at CASA on Sunday, October 14 from 2pm-3pm, and play to our hearts' content.

This is NOT a showcase of individual talents, but rather a circle of ukuleles playing songs together. (But if you have talent, please bring it! AND If you have a song you would like to lead the group in playing, please bring a few copies of lyrics & chords (10 or so) that we can share.)

Are you worried you won't know the songs? DON'T WORRY. There will be a bunch of songs with ONLY 2 CHORDS. SO EASY! Contact Mary-Anne for the Dropbox link and download the songs we have collected so far.

Beginners welcome!

Casa is the realization of a 20 year dream, shared by many in the Lethbridge arts community, to expand or replace the Bowman Arts Centre. This unique new facility far surpasses the original vision for expansion, and sets a new standard for interdisciplinary arts centres. It is about experimentation, incubation, learning and growing. Casa was built to serve a multi-generational community, with varying art skill sets and interests in all disciplines of the arts.

Designing the building was a comprehensive and collaborative process led by Nyhoff Architecture from (Calgary) working in conjunction with the local architectural firm of Ferrari Westwood Babits. The Architectural team visited numerous arts education institutions and also met with members of the local arts community to define requirements for a truly functional 42,000 square foot art centre. The resulting building design is truly impressive.

Funding for the project were provided by the Federal Build Canada Fund ($6,000,000.), the Provincial MSI Fund ($14,900,000.) and the City of Lethbridge ($200,000).
