4:05 p.m.: (Folk/Country)  Carter FelkerTrio

Born and raised in the Prairies, Carter Felker's eyes have seen the length of the wheat fields through many Winter mornings, and the stretch of the sun through many short lived Summers. He has labored, he has lost, and he has loved.

Carter uses his own experience, and his desire to tell a story to create honest, human-made, country music. Enjoy.

5:05 p.m. Maria Livingston traditional Cree Hoop Dance and demo

5:25 p.m. (Folk)  John Wort Hannam Music

John Wort Hannam comes from a long line of people who made a living using their hands. His great-great grandfather drove horse and buggy for the village doctor. His great-grandfather was a stevedore, his grandfather, a farmer and his father still works as a master carpenter. John broke from tradition and for five years taught grade 9 language arts on the largest reserve in Canada – The Kainai Nation, part of the Blackfoot Tribe. But in 1997 he heard a Loudon Wainwright III record and was hooked by the music and stories. In 1998 he bought a guitar and learnt some chords. In 2002 he quit teaching and began to pursue the dream of being a working musician. Wort Hannam has come back to the family tradition and now also makes his living with his hands – both writing and playing music. He independently released his debut CD “pocket full of holes” in 2002 and his 2nd CD “Dynamite and ‘Dozers” in 2004. His third CD “Two-Bit Suit” was released by Black Hen Music in the spring of 2007 and 2009 saw the release of “Queen’s Hotel”.

6:25 p.m. (Rockabilly) Peter & the Wolves

Deep in the wilds of Calgary, nestled along the river valley, lies the suburban outpost of Bowness. Following the Second World War, veterans moved in and carved out a rough ’n’ ready hepcat culture of their own— the hotel bar and beauty parlour, the pool hall and ice cream store, angle parking filled with four door sedans while rat rods roamed down the main drag on Saturday night gave it all the markings of a small town serenade lying just beyond the bright city lights. Generations later, community pride is sewn on the sleeves of its residents along with “I Love Bowness” bumper stickers slapped on the back of beat up Subarus and Honda Civics.

Out of this big heart hideaway comes Peter and the Wolves, a fresh-faced rockabilly outfit shaped by their forefathers’ rowdy, unstoppable urge to shake it up. Led by Howlin’ Pete Cormier, the Wolves were playing the bar scene while half its members were still in high school. Pete flashed his guitar and lady-killer good looks, as Theo dug deep into his stand-up and Paul cranked out soul-scorching keyboard solos. Elvis, Eddy Cochrane and CCR were mixed in with House of the Rising Son and Rock Lobster. Sweat dripped from their brow and soaked their sharkskin suits; they pulverized the room and left them panting for more.

Rockabilly with an infectious R&B groove, heartful of twang ’n’ soul, four-on-the rock ’n’ roll wrapped around Howlin’ Pete’s honey-coated vocals and little boy smile that leaves them cryin’ in the aisles. Today Bowness; tomorrow the world.

Cold Specks is the stage name of singer-songwriter Ladan Hussein, who was previously known as Al Spx.[1] Her music has been described as doom-soul. The name Cold Specks is taken from a line in James Joyce's Ulysses ("Born all in the dark wormy earth, cold specks of fire, evil, lights shining in the darkness.").

She released her debut album, I Predict a Graceful Expulsion, on May 21, 2012, on Mute Records and Arts & Crafts in Canada.

Her second album, Neuroplasticity, was released on August 26, 2014. It featured trumpet playing by Ambrose Akinmusire and backing vocals from Michael Gira of Swans.
