 Mallory Chipman https://www.mallorychipman.com/

Revered for her "rich, expressive voice" and hailed as "an old school jazz chanteuse with new school attitude" (GigCity.ca), Mallory Chipman is quickly becoming one of the most important names in Canadian modern and vocal jazz. Based in Edmonton, Canada, Mallory spent years cultivating her own unique sound: one that fuses the improvisational elements of jazz with the poetic lyricism of folk and the grittiness of rock and roll.

Highlights from her career include performing with artists such as PJ Perry, Tommy Banks, and John Stetch; opening for renowned jazz singer, Madeleine Peyroux; touring through Canada and abroad to Europe; singing back-up for the legendary rock group, Heart; and playing sold out shows in jazz festivals and clubs from Edmonton to as far away as the United Kingdom.

Mallory’s debut album, Nocturnalize, was released in November 2016 on Bent River Records and was celebrated by a release concert at one of Canada’s finest jazz clubs, the Yardbird Suite. The first track on Nocturnalize, "Angular Symphony", was awarded the Jazz Recording of the Year award at the 2017 Edmonton Music Awards. Her recently released sophomore album, Rags and Feathers: A Tribute to Leonard Cohen (October 2017) was celebrated with a Western Canadian tour which was met with overwhelming media attention and outstanding audience reception. It was produced by Juno Award winning engineer, Paul Johnston, and was executively produced Juno Award winner Tommy Banks.

Mallory’s performance career is balanced by her faculty position at the esteemed MacEwan University where she teaches voice.
