cKillop is part of the United Church of
Canada, a liberal denomination that only exists in Canada. The United
Church has a statement of common faith AND is open to diverse views of
who God is and how God is active in our lives.
We believe in a person’s right to name, shape, and express their faith in many ways. McKillop uses inclusive language and is welcome and open to gays, lesbians, bisexuals, trans, and two-spirited people.
We have a strong passion for social justice, including the ordination of women, and working for peace with justice.
We believe in the importance of both worshipping as a community and finding what feeds us spiritually as individuals. We don’t always agree but we work to find ways to worship, laugh, cry, and work together.
