Rosana Eckert is an internationally recognized live and studio vocalist,
songwriter, arranger, and jazz educator based in Dallas, TX. She has
released four solo CDs, performed with such jazz greats as Lyle Mays,
Kenny Wheeler, Christian McBride, George Duke, Bobby McFerrin, and
toured as a sub with the Grammy Award-winning vocal quartet New York
Voices. Her debut CD, At the End of the Day, was praised as “an occasion
for celebration” by AllAboutJazz.com and
was a finalist for Best New Jazz Album at the 2006 Independent Music
Awards. A renowned educator, Rosana teaches vocal jazz at the
University of North Texas and is in demand as a clinician, festival
adjudicator, and choral arranger. Her arrangements are published by
Sound Music Publications, Hal Leonard, and Rosana Eckert Music, and have
been performed worldwide.
HBO3
HBO3 is a Lethbridge based trio that focuses on more contemporary jazz
standards and original works. The trio features James Oldenburg on
guitar, Brad Brouwer on drums and Paul Holden on bass. All three
musicians have extensive backgrounds in a variety of musical styles,
affording them a busy performance schedule, both individually and
collectively. HBO3 can also be found as the core rhythm section in
larger ensembles in a variety of genres as well as providing back-up for
visiting solo artists.
Vern Dorge
Saxophones, flutes, and woodwind specialist Vern Dorge is a fixture on the
Canadian and international music scene. A native of Medicine Hat, he
moved to Toronto in 1974 and has become a featured soloist with the
likes of Blood, Sweat, & Tears, Gordon Lightfoot, Anne Murray, and
many other artists. He has had many great performances with highly
acclaimed artists including Tony Bennett, Aretha Franklin, Ella
Fitzgerald, Roberta Flack, Aaron Neville, Gino Vannelli, Diana Krall,
and Herbie Hancock. In the fertile music culture of Toronto, Vern has
spent time playing for people such as Guido Basso, Doug Riley, Howard
Cable, Domenic Troiano, and the great Moe Koffman. He is still an active
performer, composer/arranger, teacher in many genres including jazz,
rhythm and blues, orchestral, musical theatre, and as a studio musician.
The Yates Theatre is located downtown next to Lethbidge City Hall. It is a great room which hosts a variety of shows including music and comedy from Ian Tyson to Ron James.
The Genevieve E. Yates Memorial Centre consists of two performance spaces, the Yates Theatre, a 486 seat proscenium theatre, and the Sterndale Bennett Theatre, a black box theatre with a maximum audience capacity of 180. Several facilities are shared between the two theatres. These include a costume construction/sewing room; a set construction workshop; set, costume, and property storage areas; offices; box office and concessions. In addition to serving as a performance venue, the Yates Memorial Centre also houses an art gallery in the upper mezzanine area. Works from new and established visual artists are displayed on a rotating basis for the enjoyment of both theatre patrons and the general public.
