Shaela Miller makes superb return to stage

Shaela Miller plays the Tongue N’ Groove. Photo by Richard AmeryShaela Miller made her auspicious return to the stage at the Tongue N’ Groove, Boxing Day.

A good sized and enthusiastic crowd couldn’t get enough of her inimitable warble and her band, Taylor Ackerman on lap steel and lead guitar, plus  Tyler Bird on drums and Paul Holden on bass, were killing it as usual.

I only stayed for the first set which included crowd favourites like ‘Station,’ and old school country style songs from her CD as well as covers of ‘Blue Moon of Kentucky,’ and  covers of Hank Williams and Johnny Cash, but could tell she was ready to go all night.
Her preganancy related hiatus from stage has only made her a stronger, not to mention much missed performer.

While she disn’t speak much in between songs, other than  to softly thank the crowd for coming out on Boxing Day, her demure stage presence continues to be immediately appealing and her voice continues to be strong, beautiful and distinct.
