Jody Peck, aka Miss Quincy, isn’t your typical female singer/ songwriter— she rocks the blues hard. She will be bringing her brand Miss Quincy and the Showdown play Lethbridge, June 13. Photo Submittednew trio, the Showdown including stand-up bassist Shari Rae and drummer Holly Magnus to the Slice, June 13 to open for Ross Neilsen and the Suffering Bastards.

She has been on tour for many weeks in support of her latest CD “Like the Devil Does.”

“It’s been many months. We’ve crossed Canada, then we were in Europe and now we’re heading back from the east coast to the west. People really seem to like the all female blues trio,” she enthused en route to Moose Jaw.

“The response has been really good. I love this incarnation of Miss Quincy,” she described. She played Lethbridge last winter with a completely different trio of all guys and has performed as a duo as well as solo.

“ Last time I played Lethbridge it was with a completely different trio. It was guys and a bass player and another guitarist. This is a full band. This is an all girl group which is all about playing their instruments hard and playing them well,” she said.
“ It’s like dirty, raunchy blues rock,” she described adding she is looking forward to sharing a bill  with Ross Neilsen and the Suffering Bastards.

“We know the members of the band really well. And people often tell us we sound like a female version of  them. Though that’s not how we’d like to be marketed,” she said.

“But it is a very complementary pairing. If people like  roots and blues, they'll be really impressed by this show,” she said.
They  just released their new CD, “Like The Devil  Does,” with esteemed Calgary bluesman Tim Williams.

“It’s a pretty rootsy blues rock record which we recorded with Tim Williams. He’s a Canadian legend in blues,” she enthused adding the CD is not the same as the live show.

“The CD is more of a listening experience, the live show is definitely louder and raunchier,” she said adding what you see is what you get— three girls playing the blues on guitar, bass and drums.

“The CD definitely has the essence of what we’re doing on stage,” she continued.

She enjoyed recording the CD with Tim Williams.
“It was a great experience. It was the girls and some old blues guys,” she said.
“ He is a mentor. I learned a lot but there are still years of learning to do,” she added.
