Fun built into Tom Fun Orchestra show

You know you are going to have a good time at a Tom Fun Orchestra show, because fun is built right into the name. The Tom Fun Orchestra having fun on stage. Photo by Richard Amery
They had a surprisingly good crowd of approximately 50 people at the Slice, Nov. 19, all of whom they invited up onto the stage with them to end their show.

Unfortunately I missed opening act the Strumbellas, but was glad I went out on a Monday.
It is always impressive watching a band consisting of members who play multiple instruments.

This was one of those bands whose members alternated through a veritable orchestra of instruments during an upbeat, toe-tapping set which combined elements of Celtic music, pop music, rock music, jazz music and much more.

They switched instruments between songs and even during songs while missing nary a note, which is always a lot of fun to to see.

Lead singer Ian MacDougall thanked the audience for coming out to the show on a Monday night, noting “Not everybody does.”

They put on an energetic show, showing prowess on a plethora of instruments, while singing catchy melodies and getting the crowd moving on the floor and eventually on the stage.
