Janni Lee band belt out the blues

E-mail Print PDF

A decent sized crowd was at the Slice, Dec. 8 to listen to Janni Lee and her band belt out the blues. She has one powerfuJanni Lee and Shawna Romolliwa sing together. Photo by Richard Ameryl voice which blasted through the speakers as the belted and crooned a  variety of  soulful blues music supplied by drummer Raz, bassist Pat Ackerman and guitarist Matt Tata.

She ended one set with soulful version of “Hold On” by Alabama Shakes then took a break.

She returned with a beautiful version of  “The Thrill is Gone” and added tonnes more soul, then invited special guest Shawna Romolliwa to the stage to sing a couple songs with her. One of the highlights was the reggae influenced “Down on My Knees.”

After Romolliwa left the stage, Janni Lee sang a beautiful version of Etta James’ “At Last.”
