Cam Penner is excited about his new CD “To Build a Fire” and the ensuing tour, which comes to The Owl Acoustic Lounge, May 29.
“Response has been good and also different because the music has changed so much,” said Penner getting ready for a show on a rainy day in the Kootenays.
He is touring for week in B.C. then will be spending a week in Alberta before returning to B.C.
“ I think people appreciate it. It’s just the two of us. There’s more electronic music and blues music. And there is a lot more spontaneity,” he continued.
He is touring with long time musical partner John Wood who plays lap steel guitar and a lot electrical and analogue sounds.
They recorded the new CD in Penner’s cabin in the woods and let the music flow naturally.
They are pleased with the result.
“The CD is a rallying call. It is full of hope and full of longing. I think people will really be caught by it,” he said.
They haven’t been to Lethbridge in about two years when their last CD was released, so they are excited about the show.
“ There will be lots of new stuff. And it’s going to be an uninhibited show,” Penner promised.
